PURPOSE:To provide a tape with an optimum tension for operating in a starting time, by converting the ratio of frequencies corresponding to rotary angle speeds of a capstan and a reel, to voltage, also providing a frequency-dividing circuit, and controlling the tension. CONSTITUTION:Disks 8, 11 to which magnets 9, 12 have been installed are provided on a capstan 2 and a feed reel 3, frequencies f1, f2 being in proportion to rotary angle speeds are generated. The frequency f2 is divided into three kinds by a frequency divider 16. The frequencies f1, f2 output a signal being in proportion to f1/f2 through a counter 19, a CPU20, a memory 21, etc., it is converted to voltage, reverse driving voltage being in proportion to decrease of the wound diameter is applied to a motor 6, and tension is controlled.
