Abstract

PURPOSE:To record and reproduce a pilot signal for obtaining a track shift in the narrow band, by recording in order 4 kinds of frequency signals in every track, and discriminating and reproducing 2 kinds of signals from tracks on both sides of a scanning track at the time of reproduction. CONSTITUTION:Frequencies f1, f4 satisfying fi=Ki.fH/4, and frequencies f2, f3 satisfying fj=kj.fH/2 and approaching said f1, f4, respectively are recorded in order in every track as pilot signals. On the other hand, as for a signal reproduced by a rotary head 13 from a magnetic tape 14, the signal (f1,f4) or (f2,f3) is inputted to a differential amplifier 35 through band-pass filters 31, 32 and changeover switches 33, 34, at every 1 track by a comb line filter constituted of a CCD 22, a reverse amplifier 23 and an adder 30, and a track shift corresponding to an input levle difference is outputted. In this way, a track shift signal is obtained exactly in the narrow band.
