Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover energy of wind effectively and to lower the manufacturing costs of a windmill, by installing wind guide plates on such a terrain feature where the corridor becomes narrow gradually in one direction like a valley between mountain ranges, and revolving a windmill by the force of wind carried along the wind guide plates.
CONSTITUTION: A windmill 11 consisting of a main body 21 and a turbine 31 is installed at the top of a steel tower 4, and a funnel-shaped wind channel 5 is formed on the windward side of the steel tower 4 in the manner that the side having a larger diameter is located on the windward side. With such an arrangement, if the diameter of the turbine 21 of windmill 11 is reduced, the same amount of energy of wind can be recovered as that obtainable by a turbine having a diameter equal to that of the larger opening of the wind channel 5, so that the windmill 11 can be manufactured inexpensively. The present invention contrives to recover energy of wind by forming a wind channel through utilization of the natural configuration of the ground according to the above principles. That is, a wind channel is formed by arranging wind guide plates 65 slantwise in a valley 62 between mountain ranges 61, 61, and a windmill is disposed at the outlet 66 of the wind channel.
