Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the extremely simple and highly accurate changing of ingot width sizes possible without measurement with measuring instruments by moving the plural cooling members in parallel with the ingot direction on the short sides of a mold orthogonally with the ingot drawing direction and approximately parallel with the ingot thickness direction. CONSTITUTION:A mold has long side and short side cooling member pairs 1, 2, and at least one of the latter is constituted of plural members 2a juxtaposed in the ingot width direction. The outer side surfaces of the longest side member 1 and the member 2a on the outermost side are secured to a back frame 4 in which cooling water flows, by which they are cooled. The remaining members 2a are mounted with water supply and discharge pipes for cooling at their other ends in their moving direction. To change the width direction size of the ingot, all the movable members 2a are advanced until they abut on the inside side surface of the longest side member 1, whereby they are put into the shortest ingot width state. Thence, they are retreated from the innermost members 2a in accordance with need unitl they contact with the sopper, and the ingot width direction size is made long as much as the thickness of the member 2a in the ingot width directin.
