Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a weather strip having a colored layer easily and inexpensively by forming a colored rubber layer having a particular thickness on a particular portion of the surface of a weather strip body of a base rubber material by extrusion molding simultaneously with the body. CONSTITUTION:A weather strip comprises a trimmed portion 1 of a U-shaped sectional profile, in which a core member made of a thin steel plate to be mounted on a flange 61 of an automobile body 6 is burried, and a seal portion 2 which is extrusion molded simultaneously and integrally with the portion 1. A colored thin rubber layer 4 which is integral with the trimmed portion 1 is also formed by simultaneous extrusion molding on the surface of the trimmed portion 1 facing the interior of the room. In the manufacture of this weather strip, trimmed portion 1a, seal portion 1b and colored rubber portion 4a are extruded from respective trimmed portion, seal portion and colored rubber extrudes 8 to 10 into die 14 of a crosshead 12. The primary product 18 that is obtained in this way fed through a volcanizing trough 15 and a water washing trough to obtain a final finished product.
