Abstract

PURPOSE:To keep the tension of running base constant before a top roll, by providing an in-feed roll and a tension adjusting and detecting device before the top roll. CONSTITUTION:An in-feed roll A is located before a running base 2 paid-off from a winding frame 1 enters a top roll 5 of a calender. The running base 2 is guided to this roll A, and a touch-roll 15 is actuated by a cylinder 18 to run the running base 2 while being pressed on the roll A with a prescribed pressure. A tension adjusting and detecting device B is installed between the roll A and the top roll 5 to control the revolution of the primemover of the roll A through the output of the detector B. Thus, the tension of the running base can be kept constant before the top roll.
