Abstract

PURPOSE: To exactly perform the calculation and display of the drilling locus by providing an X and Y axes direction inclinometer attached to drill unit, a strain guage attached to the drill, and a water depth measurer and drill stroke sensor provided to a ship.
CONSTITUTION: X and Y axes direction inclinometers 3a and 3b are attached to a drill unit 2 mounted on a soft ground improving ship 1, by which the inclination of the unit 2 is detected. Strain gauges 4a, 4b, 4a', and 4b' are connected to the tip or middle of the drill pipe 2'. Output from each detecting end is put in an arithmetic unit 5 where the correlation between the direction of the ship 1 and X and Y axes of the unit 2 is calculated from the true bearing signal of the ship 1 from a gyrocompass 6. Also, the excavating depth of the pipe 2' is detected by a stroke sensor 7 and corrected by a water depth measurer 8, and drill penetration amount is calculated. The results of calculation are displayed on a graphic displayer 9.
