PURPOSE: To separate 1-butene and isobutylene from a 4C hydrocarbon mixture containing both at a low cost efficiently, by bringing the 4C hydrocarbon mixture into countercurrent liquid-liquid contact with an aqueous solution of silver nitrate at a specific concentration as an extracting agent.
CONSTITUTION: A 4C hydrocarbon mixture contaning 1-butene and isobutylene is brought into countercurrent liquid-liquid contact with an aqueous solution of silver nitrate in a concentration of 62.6W70.7wt%, preferably 65.6W68.4wt%, as an extracting agent to separate the 1-butene and isobutylene from the mixture. The pressure is ≥2kg/cm2G when the contacd temperature is 20°C. The mixing weight ratio of the aqueous solution of the silver nitrate is 9W26 times, preferably 12W20 times, based on the 4C hydrocarbon mixture. The 1-butene is dissolved very selectively in the aqueous solution of the silver nitrate, and the solubility is excellent. Therefore, the operation can be carried out by a small amount of the extracting agent with not so much utility cost and equipment cost required.
