Abstract
PURPOSE: The polymerization of formaldehyde is effected in the presence of a specific compound to produce the polyacetal having polyoxymethylene structure units with one chain terminal blocked with a specific adduct and showing high heat stability, high lubricity and high antistatic property.
CONSTITUTION: The polymerization of formaldehyde is conducted in the presence of an alkylene oxide adduct to an alcohol or its esterified product of formula I or II [R1, R3 are H, alkyl, aryl, substituted alkyl, substituted aryl, preferably R1 is H, R3 is methyl; R2 is alkyl, aryl, substituted alkyl, substituted aryl, preferably stearyl or p-octylphenol; m is 2W6, preferably 2; n is 1W1,000, preferably 2W250] to produce a polyacetal with a structure of formula III, in which one chain terminal is blocked and a number-average molecular weight is 10,000W500,000 except the chain terminal group.
