Abstract
PURPOSE: To syntheize the titled compound useful as a raw material for polyurethane directly economically in high yield with high catalytic activity, by reacting an aromatic nitro compound with CO in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a specific chelate compound and a noble metal at high temperature under high pressure.
CONSTITUTION: At aromatic nitro compound is reacted with CO at high temperature under high pressure (e.g., at 100W250°C at 10W1,000kg/cm2, etc.) to give an aromatic isocynate. In the reaction, the addition of a chelate compound of vanadium consisting of a 1,3-diketone shown by the formula (R, R', and R" are aliphatic group, etc.) as a cocatalyst to an least one main catalyst selected from the group consisting of a mixture of a noble metal, its compound (e.g., Ru, Rh, Pd, etc.) and a hetero aromatic ring type nitrogen compound, a complex of the noble metal with coordination of the nitrogen compound, and a mixture of the complex and the nitrogen compound can reduce the amount of the main catalyst used and raise the selectivity.
