PURPOSE:To record and reproduce an audio signal and a video signal as the same recording track, by time-compressing the audio signal or the like at the vertical blanking period of a video signal and recording them together with the video signal in the frequency multiplex system as a modulation signal in a high frequency band. CONSTITUTION:To an FM luminance signal (b) by a luminance signal (a) of an input television signal and a differentiated synchronizing signal (c) at a vertical blanking period, an FM audio sigbal (e) is added by an audio signal (d) in time- compression, and a high frequency component (f) inserted with an FM audio signal and a signal (g) superimposed with a low frequency modulated chroma signal and the differentiated synchronizing signal are recorded on a VTR.
