Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare an electrical insulating composition curable with peroxides and exhibiting high tracking resistance, low shrinkage, and excellent insulation characteristics, by using a specific (un)saturated polyester resin and a non-aromatic monomer as essential components.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition is prepared by reacting (A) 34W58wt% of a non-aromatic unsaturated polyester resin obtained by the reaction of (i) a non- aromatic polyhydric alcohol component containing 15W70mol% of neopentyl glycol and 10W30mol% of hydrogenated bisphenol A and (ii) a non-aromatic dicarboxylic acid component composed mainly of non-aromatic α,β-unsaturated dicarboxylic acids (e.g. maleic anhydride), (B) 58W34wt% of a non-aromatic monomer copolymerizable with the component (A) (e.g. diallyl hexahydrophthalate) and (C) 8W32wt% of a saturated polyester resin obtained by reacting (a) mole of ε-caprolactone, (b) mole of a saturated dibasic acid, and (b) mole of saturated dihydric alcohol (a is 2W8; a+b=10), as essential components.
