Abstract

PURPOSE: An ink composition for color ink jet recording with excellent tint, solubility, etc., free from the clogging of a nozzle or filter, which is obtd. by the incoporation of a specified water-soluble colorant in a cyan ink.
CONSTITUTION: A colorant of formula I (wherein A1WA4 are each H, a hydroxy, amino, sulfon or carboxyl group; D1 and D2 are each H, a methyl or substd. phenyl group) such as a cpd. of formula II or III is incorporated together with a wetting agent, dissolving agent, pH adjustor, etc. in a cyan ink, to prepare the purpose ink composition form color ink jet recording. Being water-soluble, the colorant of formula I has solubility ≥5% in wate and considerably well dissolves in water. For example, it is possible to filter the colorant using a 0.5W1μm pore filter without substantial clogging of the filter. It is pref. incorporated in an amt. corresponding to 1/3W1/2 of its solubility.
