Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect the position of liquid leakage correctly in case the position of fluid leakage in a pipe covered with heat insulator is detected by burying a resistance wire and a conductor in the whole length of the pipe for measuring the value of resistance at the time of short-circuiting between the resistance wire and the conductor.
CONSTITUTION: A pipe 1 made of synthetic resin is inserted into a metallic cover pipe 2 coaxially. Between both pipes 1 and 2, a resistance wire (a) such as nichrome wire and a conductor with low electric resistance such as copper wire (b) are positioned to project to both sides of the pipe 1 mutually in parallel not to be in touch with the metallic cover pipe 2. At this stage, the gap between both pipes 1 and 2 is filled with foamed heat insulator (c) such as hard urethane foam for constructing the unit body of a conveyor pipe 3. A plurality of these conveyor pipes 3 are connected 4 hermetically, while resistance wires (a) and conductors (b) are respectively connected for obtaining a series of liquid conveyor pipes. Then, the short-circuiting between the resistance wire (a) and the conductor (b) caused by liquid leakage is detected by a resistance measuring device 5, and the position of the leakage is calculated on the basis of the measured result.
