Abstract

PURPOSE:To take a measurement of distance precisely even in case of disturbing light and noise, by extracting only the part of a photodetection signal, which corresponds to projection, by a semiconductor switch and by integrating or averaging it. CONSTITUTION:A light-emitting diode projector LED1 projects light to a subject 1 periodically. External light including reflected light from the subject 1 is passed through a photodetecting element PD, a sensor amplifier 2 and an HPF3 to cut its DC component and low-frequency component, thus extracting a signal corresponding to the reflected light from the subject 1. The output signal of the HPF3 is passed through an amplifier 4 and integrated by an integral network 5. An analog switch A1 extracts only the part of the subject reflected light. The output of the integral network 5 is latched by an FF1 and an FF2 through comparators COM1 and COM2. Then, an LED2 for the short distance of the subject 1, an LED3 for the intermediate distance, and an LED4 for the long distance turn on selectively through AND circuits AND1 and AND2, and an NOR circuit NOR, thus performing distance display. Consequently, a high-precision measurement of distance is taken by the said constitution.
