Abstract

PURPOSE: A transparent material containing fine inorganic particles on the surface layer is treated with an activated gas and coated with a protection coating material to giving the surface of high hardness as well as low reflection and high transmission of light.
CONSTITUTION: A base material mainly consisting of fine inorganic particles of 1W300mμ average particle size such as silicon oxide in a volatile dispersion medium such as water and of a vehicle dispersing the particle such as an epoxy resin, such as glass or a coating material such as cured product of methyltrimethoxysilane, is treated with an activated gas formed by high-voltage discharge on the surface, preferably to form a thin film for antireflexion of less than 500mμ thickness. Further, the surface is coated with an epoxy resin, preferably in an amount of 10W 500mg/m2 for protection to produce the objective transparent material.
