Abstract

PURPOSE:An inhibitor for dandruff capable of preventing a scurfy disease of the scalp (dandruff disease) and urtication caused by it by administration to the affected part, and thoroughly satisfactory with respect to safety, stability of pharmaceutical manufacturing, smell, etc., comprising an antagonist of a histamine H2 acceptor as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:An inhibitor for dandruff, e.g., a medicine for hair and/or scalp, shampoo, hair dressing, etc., comprising ordinarily >=0.5wt% preferably 1-20wt% antagonist of a histamine H2 acceptor, e.g., cimetidine, metiamide, burimamide, ranitidine, etc. as an active ingredient. The use of the inhibitor for dandruff according to a conventional way can prevent thoroughly dandruff and urtication caused by it. The antagonist of a histamine H2 acceptor is extremly stable in a solvent, e.g., water, an alcohol, etc. and is excellent with respect to safety and smell. It can be used together with a conventional inhibitor for dandruff, especially germicide, and in this case better results can be obtained.
