PURPOSE:To prevetn degradation of the quality of a reproduced picture, by inserting a discimination code between respective channels at a recording time and by decoding a signal for every channel in accordance with the discrimination code at a high-speed mode reproducing time. CONSTITUTION:A digital coded input signal 1 is divided into information of two channels by an information dividing circuit 2, and an error correction code is added to respective outputs in block units by encoders 3 and 4, and respective pertinent channel discrimination codes are inserted by channel discrimination code inserting circuits 5 and 6, and these outputs are recorded as an output 7 of a channel 1 and an output 8 of a channel 2. Respective reproduced signals 11 and 12 of channels 1 and 2 have discrimination codes detected by channel discriminating circuits 13 and 14, and switches 15 and 16 are switched to decoders corresponding to discriminated channels. Next, after errors are corrected in decorders 17 and 18, reproduced signals are multiplexed by an information multipliexing circuit 19 to obtain an output 20 of the original input code sequence.
