Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify the manufacturing process of a cylindrical type alkaline batbery and improve its character, by filling a separating case with the gel-like cathode after making it by winding a separator in many layers, forming the substantial bottom by melting its bottom portion, and inserting a bottom paper after contracting process. CONSTITUTION:A belt-like separator 2 made of synthetic fiber woven cloth or the like is wound round a core 7 in many layers. The lower end portion of the separator 2 is put on a heated metal pattern 9, its bottom is closed by melting to form a substantial bottom while being rotated, and inserted into the hollow space of a cylindrical anode compound 10. Then, a bottom paper 12 formed into a disk-like shape through contracting process with a contracting metal mold 11 is inserted into the separator 2 and put on the inner bottom of the separator 2 with an extruding stick 13, and a cylindrical separator with bottom is thus formed. Next, the gel-like zinc cathode 14 is filled in it. As the crack or the break of the separator 2 can be eliminated by these processes, the inner capacity of a battery is kept constant, and the stable character of the battery can be secured.
