Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the contamination of outer portions of a cylinder and malfunctioning of an exhaust valve, by sealing those portions of the exhaust valve located on the side of an opening and an exhaust passage, and thereby preventing intrusion of oil and tar contained in the exhaust gas into the opening of the exhaust valve.
CONSTITUTION: An annular seal member 16 is inserted into respective annular grooves 17, each having a square-shaped cross section and formed in circumferential interstices 7 between the outer peripheral surfaces of straight portion 4a formed on the opposite ends of an exhaust valve 4 and the inner peripheral surface of an opening 5a of a valve receiving section 5.
