Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent accidents originating from laser beam irradiation due to erroneous operation and to prevent the circumference of a diseased part from being damaged, by intercepting gaseous carbonic acid laser beam by using water absorbed cellulose sponge. CONSTITUTION:The circumference of a diseased part is covered with a material of sponge which having been absorbed water, which absorbs gaseous carbonic acid laser beam with which the part is irradiated. For example, the 22mm. thickness cellulose sponge is made to absorb water 19 times the weight of the sponge, and irradiated with 10W gaseous carbonic acid laser beam for 0.5 second five times continuously, so that the quantity of transmitted laser beam is zero. As a substitute for said cellulose sponge, cellulose sponge having a water absorptive substance, such as gauze and cotton fabric, stuck to one or both sides is usable.
