Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare crude cyanuric acid, continuously, in high efficiency, by feed ing the reactor with a specific amount of molten urea divided in several times through a plurality of urea feeding holes attached to the reactor at definite intervals along the moving direction of the content, and recycling a part of the crude cyanuric acid to the reactor.
CONSTITUTION: In the preparation of cyanuric acid by the thermal decomposition of urea in an externally heated reactor equipped with a stirring rod, molten urea is fed to the reactor dividedly through a plurality of urea feeding holes attached to the reactor with regular spacings corresponding to 2W20min residence time of the content, and thermally decomposed at 230W320°C to obtain crude cyanuric acid, a part of which is recycled to the reactor. The amount of urea fed through each feeding hole is about ≤1/3pt.wt./1pt.wt. of the crude cyanuric acid existing in the content at the position of the feeding hole, and the total amount of the urea fed to the reactor is >1/3pt.wt./1pt.wt. of the crude cyanuric acid recycled to the reactor.
