Abstract
PURPOSE: A flexible cataplasma, prepared by applying a base material obtained by incorporating a high polymeric material, e.g. polyvinylpyrrolidone, in a specific proportion with a gelatin base, and adding a diluting agent consisting of sodium alginate, etc. to the resultant mixture, to a ground fabric having the stretchability in one direction.
CONSTITUTION: A ground fabric having the stretchability in one direction, preferably a nonwoven fabric, is coated with a base material with a diluting agent content of 0W10wt% and a moisture content of 65W80wt%, containing (A) 1W10wt%, based on the total weight of the base, polyvinylpyrrolidone, (B) 1W10wt% sodium polyacrylate (C) 1W10wt% carboxymethyl cellulose and (D) 0.1W10wt% each, preferably sodium 0.5W5wt% each, sodium alginate and algar powder to give a flexible cataplasma agent. The weight ratio (A):(B):(C) is preferably 1:2:1. The cataplasma has a high adhesive force, a great subcutaneous absorption of a drug and cooling effect due to the maintenance of the wetting property for a long time without exudation to the ground fabric in spite of the high moisture content.
