Abstract
PURPOSE:To maintain the shoe clearance at a constant value and the stroke constant, by supplying a hydraulic liquid to a wheel cylinder when the shoe clearance has become above a preset value. CONSTITUTION:Springs 7, 8 push respective pistons 3, 4 rearward. The spring 7 is greater than the spring 8 when the shoe clearance is adjusted in a prescribed range, and on the other hand when the shoe clearance exceeds the prescribed value, the spring 8 is made greater than the spring 7 by that increment. In a bore 16 of the piston 3, a check valve 12 is slidably fitted. The valve 12 is pushed rearward by a spring 14, but when the piston is restored, the valve 12 abuts on a stopper 17 and is opened. In a passage 25 connecting a liquid tank 21 and an auxiliry chamber 6 is provided a check valve 23 so that a liquid can flow only from the liquid tank 21 to the chamber 6. When the brake is applied in the state where the clearance has exceeded the prescribed value, the tension of the spring 8 becomes greater than that of the spring 7, and therefore when the brake is released, the piston 4 is quickly restored, a negative pressure is produced in the chamber 6, and the liquid is supplied from the tank 21.
