Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a selective electrode film indicating a sensitivity only to limited ions, by treating the surface of an ion exchange resin film with a reagent containing ion exchange groups with a polarity opposite to said ion exchange groups. CONSTITUTION:An anion selective electrode film or a cation selective electrode film that is sensitive only to a monovalent anion or a monovalent cation is obtained by a method wherein the surface of an anion exchange film or a cation exchange film for electrodialysis having a uniform film structure is treated with a reagent containing ion exchange groups for ions with opposite polarity, and on the film surface the anion exchange groups and the cation exchange groups are mde to coexist. Further, when an ion selective spectrum is narrowed down from all ions having the same polarity to monovalent ions having the same polarity, further down to a particular group of ions among them, an ion selective electrode suitable to ions desirable to be measured can be formed.
