Abstract

PURPOSE: A fungus in Amanitacae Volvariella is extracted with a solvent to obtain a substance showing antitumor activity caused by immunological mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: A fungus in Amanitacae Volvriella such as Amanitaceae Volvariella bombycina or V. speciosa is rinsed with water or physiological saline. Then, preferably the fungus is finely crushed and subjected to extraction with a solvent such as water, methanol or acetone to obtain a substance having antitumor activity. The amount of the solvent used is 3W15 times the weight of the dried fungus and the extraction is conducted at room temperature for several hours to several weeks. Then, the extract is filtered and the filtrate is concentrated to obtain the objective antitumor substance.
