Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a means to obtain an accurate horizontal cutting through a simple device by constituting it to cut the top face with a milling cutter pressed against the top face of a blast furnace top ring and moving along the arc of the top ring. CONSTITUTION:The device consists of a surface plate A, a running saddle base B, a slide bed C, a traverse saddle D, and an upper slide bed E. A milling unit 41 with a milling cutter attached thereto is made to move up and down corresponding to the amount of cut and to rotate the milling cutter. First, the milling cutter is set at the lowest level on the top face of a top ring 2 and the milling unit 41 is driven to rotate the milling cutter which is then placed on the top face of the top ring 2 to cut the top face moving along the arc of the ring 2, thereby enabling to obtain acurate horizontal cut through simple device.
