Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect a faulty place, by measuring the number of the maximum and the minimum of the impedance in case of seeing the repeater side from the feed terminal, and also estimating the repeater stage up to the faulty place, in a long distance repeating transmission line of a large capacity coaxial cable (COX). CONSTITUTION:The impedance characteristic of a power separating filter (PSF)- a low-pass filter (LPF) through a coaxial cable (COX) is derived by means of computer simulation in case when the impedance characteristic has been changed to (i) when disconnection and ground-fault have occurred between i-th coaxial cable and i+1-th coaxial cable COX(i+1) of a repeater REP, because when the number of PSFs to be connected by the repeater is increased, the number of the maximum and the minimum is increased. When a fault has occured, the fault generation point is detected by connecting a measuring device consisting of a sweep oscillator SG, voltage, and current detecting and recording meters LM1, LM2, to feed terminals A, B, deriving the input impedance, input voltage, the number of maximum and minimum of a flowing current, a maximum value, a minimum value, a frequency interval, etc., within a constant frequency range, and comparing it with a value which has been derived by means of simulation.
