Abstract
PURPOSE: To elongate the catalytic life and to reduce the hydrogen consumption in the hydrotreating process of a particular heavy oil in a fixed bed reactor, by successively changing the position for the extraction of liquid from and the position for the introduction of hydrogen to the intermediate part of the reaction column.
CONSTITUTION: Heavy stock oil contaning ≥1.0% of pentane-insoluble component and ≥50% of fractions having boiling point of ≥350°C is fed to the fixed bed reaction column 6 through the feed end, passed through the catalyst layers 7 and 8, and extracted from the outlet end of the column. At least a part of the extracted liquid is recycled to the feed end, and a part of the liquid is extracted as the product through the intermediate part of the reaction column 6. The catalyst layer of the feed end-side from the extraction position is kept at a temperature higher than that of the catalyst layer of the outlet-side by 10W18°C, and the hydrogen-containing gas is introduced into the column 6 at the outlet-side position of the extraction port. According to the lowering of the catalyst activity, the extraction position 12W15 and the gas-introduction position 2W5 are shifted successively from the inlet side 7 to the outlet side 8 of the catalyst layer.
