Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit the exchange of a filter cylinder in the form of a single unit as well as seal up both the upper and lower ends of the filter cylinder exactly.
CONSTITUTION: A cylindrical filter 1 is formed by folding a filter paper at given intervals so as to form a large number of folds 1a and also by folding in the upper and lower end parts of the folds 1a at angle of 45° in usual cases so as to form V- shaped folded sections 1b and 1b'. Then, short cylinders 2 and 2' are inserted along the insides of the folded sections and adhered to the zig-zagged edge parts for sealing up the upper and lower end parts of the folds 1a by using bands 6 and 6' fittable on the upper and lower outside end parts of the porous cylinder 4 as sealing members. Also, as the sealing members, ringed reinforcing end plates 3 and 3' may be effectively used at the upper and lower end parts of the porous cylinder 4.
