Abstract
PURPOSE:To separate peroxide and resinous components from degraded kerosenes of all stages of deteriorating with a single identifying method by separating the peroxide and resinous components in the kerosene by means of adsorbents and allowing the peroxide and iodide to react. CONSTITUTION:A packed layer 2 of a granular carrier which does not absorb the resinous components in kerosene and is carried with potassium iodide, absorbent cotton 3 as an isolating layer, a packed layer 4 of a granular adsorbent that can strongly adsorb resinous components, and absorbent cotton 5, 6 as plug bodies are provided in a glass-made tube 1. If the bottom end of this tube 1 is immersed into degraded kerosene, the kerosene is moved upward in the tube 1 by capillarity, and the peroxide reacts with the iodide of the layer 2, thereby liberating iodine and forming a yellow color. Thence, the kerosene contg. the resinous components contacts the layer 4, where the resinous components are adsorbed in the form of a narrow band, and assume a yellow or brown color. Thereby, the peroxide and resinous components in the kerosene are easily identified, and the quality of the kerosene is checked.
