Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the liquefying residue treatment and the cost, by using a residue from a coal liquefying process by the hydrogenolysis under high temperature and pressure in the form of a solid carbonaceous material as a raw material for forming a gasifying fuel in an iron bath gasifying furnace.
CONSTITUTION: A slurry consisting of coal (S1) and a hydrogenating solvent (Y1) is reacted with a gas (G) at a high temperature and pressure in the liquefying reaction step 2 and separated into a solid residue (Z) and a liquid material in the solid- liquid separating step 3. The residue (Z), oxygen (O), steam (W), quick lime (solvent) (K) and if necessary a coal part (S2) rich in an inert material and a heavy material (P4) having a boiling point ≥350°C are added to an iron bath gasifying furnace 6 to carry out the gasifying operation. The formed gas (G) from the gasifyig furnace 6 is fed as a hydrogen source for liquefying coal to the liquefying reaction step 2, and partially fed as a hydrogen source for regenerating the hydrogenating solvent to the solvent regenerating step 5.
