Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled material having a three dimentional cross-linked structure, improved resistance to scuffing and weather resistance, and high index of refraction, obtained by copolymerizing a halogen derivative of styrene as a main component with a specific polyfunctional acrylate and an allyl cinnamate.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Preferably 50W70wt% halogen derivative of styrene (e.g., ortho-chlorostyrene etc.) shown by the formula I (X is halogen other than F; m is 1W5) is copolymerized with (B) a benzene nucleus-containing polyfunctional acrylate [e.g., tetrabromo-2,2-bis(4-methacryloyloxy-ethoxyphenyl)propane, etc.] shown by the formula II (R1 and R2 are H or alkyl; m and n are 1W4) and (C) an allyl cinnamate shown by the formula III (m is 0W5; n is 1W3), to give the desired lens material.
EFFECT: Capable of being ground by a whetstone of diamond.
