Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled composition having excellent resistance to discoloration at high temperature, and useful as rubber chemicals, plasticizer for vinyl chloride resin, lubricant, stabilizer for polyethylene and polypropylene, etc., by adding a specific amount of a hindered phosphite compound to a higher fatty acid.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. of a 8W30C higher fatty acid (e.g. stearic acid) is incorporated with 0.001W30pts.wt., pref. 0.01W2pts.wt. of a phosphite compound of formula (R1 and R2 are H or 1W4C alkyl), e.g. tris(2,4-di-t-butylphenyl)phosphite. The higher fatty acid containing the phosphite compound can be stored at a high temperature for a long period with little discoloration, and does not cause the discoloration of a synthetic resin when compounded thereto and molded at a high temperature. The amount of the composition is pref. about 0.05W5pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the synthetic resin. The stability of the composition is not affected by the presence of other additives.
