Abstract
PURPOSE: To recover copper catalyst having activities almost equal to fresh catalysts almost quantitatively through a simple method, by performing an acid treatment on solution of aminated reactant liquid of halogenated benzene after the product is separated.
CONSTITUTION: When, for example, aniline is manufactured from chlorobenzene and ammonia, a copper catalyst, such as cuprous oxide, etc., is used. The reacted solution is cooled after aniline is separated and free ammonia and amines are removed by heating and stirring the solution containing copper catalyst. Then, a mineral acid, such as sulfuric acid, etc., is added to the solution and the copper catalyst is recovered. A high recovery is expected when the added amount of acid is regulated to 0.8W1.2 equivalent basing on the amount of the free ammonia and the ammonia which forms a complex with the catalyst, and the pH is regulated to 5W8. The copper compound deposited by this acid treatment is recovered by means of centrifugal separator, etc.
