Abstract

PURPOSE:To determine the positions of a semiconductor light emitting element and a light guiding path at the optimum relationship and to monitor the optical output effectively by arranging at least three light sensing elements around the light guiding path. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical cap 2 having a bottom is coupled to a disk shaped stem 1, and a package is formed. A base table 3 is formed to get a unitary body together with the stem 1. A semiconductor laser 4 is placed on the top of a said base table 3. A through hole is perforated at the central part of a bottom plate 2a of said cap 2, and optical fiber 7 is inserted through said through hole. A disk shaped light sensor 8 is provided on the inner surface of the bottom plate 2a of the cap 2. Said light sensor 8 is composed of four subdivided light sensing elements 8a-8d with the optical fiber 7 as a center.
