Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily and safely couple an earth and sand discharge pipe, by remotely and automatically handling a coupling metal member for the discharge pipe when connecting it to an earth and sand transport ship.
CONSTITUTION: A buoy hang-up and housing unit 31 on an earth and sand transport ship 20 is placed on the sea so that a buoy provided near a front end coupling metal member 16 for a discharge pipe 13 is caught by the guide portion of the housing unit 31. The housing unit 31 is then pulled up to the level of the deck of the ship 20 and moved to a housing position so that the front end coupling metal member 16 is pulled up to a place over the deck of the ship 20. After that, a ship inside loading pipe driver 50 is actuated to turn an arm 51 from the housing position 50" in the direction of an arrow F. The front end coupling metal member 16 for the discharge pipe 13 is grasped and secured by the arm 51. The arm 51 is then turned in the direction of another arrow F' to place the coupling metal member 16 in a prescribed connecting position P in which the member 16 is connected to a loading pipe 61 on a ship inside loading pipe driver 60.
