Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the printing efficiency without producing color misregister, by providing to a printing section a printing prohibiting period corresponding to the change mode of a multicolor ribbon when the color of the ribbon is changed.
CONSTITUTION: When printing is being performed by the ribbon (a) (black), red printing will be carried out with the ribbon (b) (red) pushed up by a magnet MG2, and blue printing will be carried out with the ribbon (c) (blue) pushed up by a magnet MG1. When it is required to change the black ribbon (a) directly to the blue ribbon (c), the displacement amount of the cassette 1 is larger than in the case where black is changed to red. Respective optimum printing prohibiting periods can be given in accordance with the color of the ribbon to be changed.
