PURPOSE: To construct a stable cofferdam through the production of an uniform ground reaction force, by a method wherein, in the cofferdam, the side, whereto a fluid pressure is applied, is formed into a weight wall, and the side, whereto no fluid pressure is applied, is formed into a cell-shaped hollow wall.
CONSTITUTION: A side, of a hollow structure, whereto a fluid pressure is applied, is filled with a filling material 7, such as concrete, macadam, to form a weight wall 1. A cell-shaped hollow wall 2 side, which is monolithically connected to the weight wall 1, and whereto no fluid pressure is applied, is formed in a hollow as it is. The weight wall 1 and the hollow wall 2 covered with a common top plate 9, and the hollow wall 2' can be used as an inspection gallery.
