Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate and estimate organc sulfer compound in hydrocarbon oil with liquid or thin layer chromatography by using a separating agent making a carrier carry Pd salt of a specific quantity.
CONSTITUTION: For example, Pd salt of 0.1W3wt% is carried by a carrier such as silica gel or almina. The separating agent obtained thus is applied to a column and a sample of hydrocarbon oil containing organic sulfur compound is applied. The sample is separated and eluted by a suitable organic solvent to detect and analyse it or remove the solvent from the eluted substance and eliminate the eluted substance if necessary. Thus, the organic sulfur compound contained in the oil can be separated into sulfide and thiophene compounds and eliminated by the liquid chromatography. The same separation and elimination as mentioned above can be carried out by using a thin layer chromatography using the separating agent or the one carrying Pd salt on the basis of the standard thin layer chromatography.
