Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the deviation between tracking signals even in case of an error in aligning optical systems, by providing an information-recordable blank area between tracking grooves where pulse signals differing in frequency are recorded alternately as the tracking signals. CONSTITUTION:Laser light radiated from a laser light source 1 forms a fine light spot 4 on a disk 3 through a condenser lens 2. On the disk 3, plural pulse signals differing in frequency are recorded concentrically and alternately as projecting and recessed or light and dark track grooves 5, 6 and 7, so the light spot 4 is dirfracted. Then, its diffracted reflected light is passed through a half-mirror 2' and photodetected by a photodetector 9, where it is transduced into an electric signal to compare the output levels of respective frequency components; and deviation from the center of a track 8 on which information is recorded is detected by an error signal, which is used to exercise control so that the light spot 4 is in the center of the blank track 8.
