PURPOSE:To obtain a synchronizing system of a pulse position modulation(PPM) which eliminates the need for the provision of a time slot for synchronism and increase the code transmission efficiency, by inserting a synchronizing pulse in an information word at each word number. CONSTITUTION:Each two-bit of a data to be transmitted is modulated into 4 information pulse positions as shown in (a)-(d), for example, to constitute an information word. In transmitting the information, the information word is sectioned into blocks as M word, N word, etc. and pulses P1-P4 for synchronism are inserted as shown in Figure to the first word of each block. The synchronizing pulses P1 and P3 of the M word block are inserted to the position (a) and those P2 and P<4> of the N word block are inserted at the position (d). In the words including these synchronizing pulses, if no information pulse is given other than the synchronizing pulse, the synchronizing pulses are commonly used for the information pulse.
