Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a clear recording pattern by selecting the effective track width of a flying erasing head larger than track pitch. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic heads 1, 2 and 3 on a rotary drum 4 are set as shown in the figure. The erasing head 1 has, for example, 98mum (49mum for heads 2 and 3) effective track width, and leads a recording and reproducing head 2 by 70 deg. in the rotating direction of the drum 4, and the lower end of the magnetic head 1 is 191mum higher than the lower ends of magnetic heads 2 and 3. The recording and reproducing head 3 slip from the head 2 by 180 deg.. The magnetic head 1 slips from the head 2 by 49mumX70 deg./180 deg.=19.1mum, and two-track width can be simultaneously erasured without leaving any blank part.
