Abstract

PURPOSE:To make C, B index values uniform by making preadjustment of moisture by addition of water to molding sand consisting of recovered return sand, measuring C, B indices, operating the amt. of water to be added and making postadjustment of moisture according to said amt. of water to be added, thereby adjusting the moisture content of the molding sand. CONSTITUTION:Water is added to molding sand consisting of compsns. such as return sand recovered after shake-out and these are keneaded, whereby the preadjustment of moisture is accomplished. The compactability (C, B) indices of the molding sand are physically measured, and with the measured value CB1 as a reference, a required amt, of water to be added is operated. While the water of the amt. corresponding to the calculated atm. is added, the postadjustment of moisture is carried out until the designated index value CB2 is attained.
