Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the axial dimension thereof by method wherein the output shaft of first change gear and the input shaft of the second change gear are coupled by a chain while the output shaft of the second change gear and a driving large gear are coupled by an idler gear. CONSTITUTION:The first planetary gear speed changer 2 is provided with a planetary gear set 23, a multiple disc clutch 24, which is a friction engaging element, and an one direction clutch 26, and is constituting an over-drive mechanism. The second planetary gear speed changer 3 is provided with the first planetary gear set 34, arranged at the side of a chain transmission mechanism 5, the second planetary gear set 35, arranged at the side of an engine, the multiple disc clutches 61, 62, a band brake 63, multiple disc brakes 64, 65 and one direction brakes 66, 67. The multiple disc brakes 25, 64, 65, the multiple disc clutches 24, 61, 62 and the band brake 63 are engaged or released selectively by a hydraulic servo and thereby effecting the speed changing.
