CONSTITUTION:For the purpose of eliminating the problem of thermal stress, the whole surfaces of the panel and the panel skirt of a projetion-type Braun tube are treated so that a compressive stress of above 100kg/cm<2> is easily produced by a chemical method. When such a degree of compressive stress as above exists over the surfaces, the total strenth of the compression and tension of the parr 25mum apart from the surfaces equals and extinguishes the stress of the same part. Besides, a panel having a high compressive stress as above over its surface is surface is hardly stained and flawed.
