Abstract
PURPOSE:To check the position of an irradiation terminal and to send the laser beam to an objective place by covering the external surface of the irradiation terminal of an optical fiber for a medical laser apparatus or the like with a member which reduces the transmissivity of X-rays. CONSTITUTION:The external surface of an optical fiber on the irradiation terminal of an optical fiber light leading member for a medical laser apparatus or the like is covered with a material such as gold, silver, platinum, and rhodium which reduces the transmissiviy of X-rays without bad influence to human bodies. The surface of covering 20 is coated with silicon clad 21 and the surface of the clad 21 is moreover coated with a reinforcing ''Teflon '' cover 22. Thus, the position of an optical fiber terminal inserted into a human body is monitored by X-rays to irradiate laser beam to an objective position. It may be available to coat the silicone clad 21 with the material 20 such as gold after coating the optical fiber 19 with the silicone clad 21 and then coat the material 20 with the cover 22.
