Abstract

PURPOSE: An immunological regulating agent, containing lysozyme chloride as an active constituent, capable of reducing the abnormal producion of an antibody to the normal value, and useful for the treatment of automimmune diseases causing the abnormality in the immunological function without side effects.
CONSTITUTION: An immunological regulating agent containing lysozyme chloride e.g. a hen's egg white hysozyme as an active constituent. For example, the hen's egg white is a basic polypeptide consisting of 129 amino acids, and having a molecular weight of 14,300, relatively stable to acids, and recognized to have an anti-inflammatory, antiallergic and immunological activating actions, etc. Furtheremore, the activity of reducing the abnormal production of antibody in diseases, e.g. Hashimoto or collagen diseases, to the normal value other than the immunological activating action is found. In the diseases, so-called autoimmune diseases, the antibody production, i.e. the function of B cells, is enhanced due to the hypofunction of the suppressor T cells; however, the lysozyme is capable of reducing the immunity to the normal value without causing side effects, e.g. abnormal reduction or edema.
