Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a lens of which the distributions of the exit beams in respective domains are of similar shapes and which have powers differing in the directions within the planes perpendicular to the optical axis by guadrisecting the lens at the two planes inclusive of the optical axis so that the focal lengths of the respective diagonal domains assume equal values and the two values thereof differ. CONSTITUTION:A lens 7 is quadrisected at the XZ, YZ planes which include an optical axis Z and intersect orthogonally with each other so that the focal lengths of the lens domains 7a, 7c of the 1st and 3rd quadrants have an equal value f1, and the focal lengths of the lens domains 7b, 7d of the 2nd and 4th quadrants have an equal value f2 and that the f1 and f2 differ. Such lens is obtained by adhering blocks of lens materials having different refractive indices then molding these. The four domains 7a-7d are made axially symmetrical and therefore when a circular beam is made incident to the lens 7, the distributions of the exit beams from the four domains 7a-7d within the planes intersecting orthogonally with the optical axis are of similar shapes and differ in intensity in accordance with the directions within the planes.
