Abstract

PURPOSE:A silicone working fluid which scarcely undergoes reduction in the revolution speed and viscosity even when used at a high temp. under high shear stress, which is prepd. by using a preliminarily heat-treated organopolysiloxane. CONSTITUTION:A silicone working fluid consisting of 100-10wt% organopolysiloxane having its viscosity reduced by 5-60% from the initial viscosity by thermally treating, e.g., heating at 200-300 deg.C for 1-100hr, an organopolysiloxane such as dimethyl-polysiloxane of viscosity 100-500,000cSt at 25 deg.C having a unit of formulaI[wherein R is an (un)substituted monovalent hydrocarbon group; a is 1.95-2.05]in an inert gas atmosphere and 0-90wt% organopolysiloxane of viscosity 50-500,000cSt having a unit of formula II[wherein R<1> is an (un)substituted monovalent hydrocarbon group]. The working fluid is characterized by scarcely undergoing reduction in the revolution speed and viscosity even when used at a high temp. under high shear stress for a long time.
